About Lady Mags

Dr. Magdalena H. Gross, known in the graffiti world as Lady Mags, began her art career in 2006 as a graffiti writer painting tracksides while studying at the University of Chicago. Her work has since taken her across the globe, creating street art and large-scale murals alongside exhibiting fine art in galleries. In 2010, while pursuing a PhD in International Comparative Education at Stanford University, she expanded her gallery practice, bridging academic inquiry with creative expression. Committed to helping others express their own talents, Magdalena co-created The Get Up, a digital course focused on the practice, planning, and execution of large-scale murals. Over the years, her path has evolved to include roles as a professor, a mother, and a leader in AI and education. Across disciplines, her work is unified by a deep commitment to helping people and places shine — whether through painting and transforming public spaces, bringing untold stories to light, or designing systems that help others express, scale, and teach their own talents.
