Magdalena Gross

Dr. Magdalena H. Gross is recognized as a first-in-class leader in AI education, certification, and training. Dr. Gross’s rare combination of expertise sets her apart. She is a Stanford-trained scholar of learning, a seasoned educator across K–12 and higher education, and a corporate leader who builds and scales global training programs. She has taught thousands of Ph.D.s and expert practitioners to work with AI, making her a trusted authority for organizations seeking to integrate advanced AI responsibly into their work. Cross-functional and collaborative, she is equally effective leading teams, advising executives, or teaching undergraduates how to thrive in an AI-powered world.

As the former Director of Learning, Training, Community, and Thought Leadership at Handshake AI, she developed large-scale programs that prepare PhDs, engineers, and domain specialists to work effectively and responsibly with artificial intelligence. With a Ph.D. in Education from Stanford University and a career spanning higher education, EdTech, and industry, Dr. Gross brings a distinctive blend of research expertise, pedagogical insight, and applied AI practice. She works across the C-Suite, engineering teams, data delivery pipelines, and expert communities to design online learning, in-product training, and enterprise courses that help organizations become AI-literate and future-ready.

Before her work in AI, Dr. Gross was a professor and internationally recognized expert in teaching “difficult history.” She has spoken at UNESCO, advised the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and authored scholarship that continues to shape education about difficult history worldwide. She has held faculty positions at Stanford, Brown, and the University of Maryland and is co-author of Troubled History, Troubling Times (Routledge, 2019). Her leadership roles in EdTech include directing global curriculum strategy for Adobe Creative Cloud, where her work reached millions of teachers and learners.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Gross is also a muralist with an international following, a community arts leader, and a proud mother. Whether in classrooms, corporations, or on city walls, her work is driven by a commitment to helping people see—and create—the world differently.
